With other games, I'm basically the same way as well...if something bugs me, I have no qualms about starting over to try to get it perfect.

With GW, however, I've changed that, with the sole goal in mind of getting through everything with each one of my guys. You'd be surprised how a change in mindset can actually exponentially improve your enjoyment of a game as deep as this.

This is the correct answer. Zero investment in chars FTW! All my PvE chars had a slew of PvP ancestors.

You say you want a nice HoM for GW2, but it sounds to me like GW is the wrong game for you and GW2 will be even more so. You need a game where you don't have to commit to or invest in a character, not a game that rewards the commitment and investment you're not capable of. Either branch out into PvP, or find a new game.

Don't be picky. Try not to. Otherwise do PvP (those characters make little advancement, their titles are account based, and you they're pretty dispensible) or quit GW.

I have a new curse, any character made in the year 2008 is deleted rather quick. Only my oldies shine.
